The man behind the can

Hey im Dave Hardy aka Mr Hardy Arms. Back in 2016, shortly after we purchased our first house, my beer journey started to change. After trying Camden Hells I wanted to set up a bar at home. The very modest 4 optics and sub machine in the kitchen soon became the focal point when friends were round, if only I knew where it would lead.....

In 2018 we moved house and there was an ideal 'dead space' behind the garage for a small shed (it's almost like I planned it....). So I set to work on planning the bar and investigating what size shed I could fit, in the meantime I created a mini bar in the corner of the garage (the wife was a little annoyed that I had commandeered her utility area).

 

After waiting for the better weather to come in the following spring, I settled on a modest 10x8ft summerhouse - The Hardy Arms was born!!

Since then I have made it my mission to keep trying new, different and interesting beers. What I wasn't expecting just how many like minded people there would be and how I would go on to make awesome new friends like The Dunn Inn, Ale & Audio, Craig Johnson, Andros Beer Selfie, Pablo Disco Bar & Patriot Lockdown Bar just to name a few.

Andy and I now do a monthly Instagram live beer tasting and have had the pleasure to have tried beers from all over the UK. We have also been lucky to have met some of the great guys & girls from breweries such as Vocation, Wookey Ale, Shiney Brewery,  Zero Six Brew Co & Bini Brew Co. I also feature on the weekly podcast called 'Ale & Audio' hosted by Jimbo and alongside Andy Dunn which is available on Mixcloud. I never thought all of this would happen and that people would want to buy merchandise - but the pubshed community proved me wrong.

 

I'm really excited to see what the next few years brings - you never know I might have my own beer one day (well thats the dream anyway).
